Temporary Firefighter
The Temporary Firefighter (sometimes called "Seasonal" or "Intern") position is a full-time temporary position, not to exceed 12 months. Under the direct supervisor of a Fire Captain, the Temporary Firefighter performs a variety of duties involving fire suppression, emergency response, protection of life and property, fire prevention, and other related activities. At the end of 12 months, the Temporary Firefighter will have met the requirements for Firefighter I or Firefighter II.
This firefighter will be assigned to a shift and work 48 hours straight followed by 96 hours off. Temporary Firefighters are required to work as directed, possibly for multiple days on strike team assignments. This position is generally opened on an annual basis to Volunteer Firefighters in good standing or Fire Academy graduates. For more information on this position, contact Captain Mendez.
